Public consultation dates and proposal maps

The proposed dates for the public consultation are 19th July to 10th September, subject to ratification by Full Council on 20th June. Interesting to see that Arun have chosen the holiday season! That in itself is grounds for objection!

For those wanting to see the detailed proposals maps they can be found here – its a 6MB file so it may take a couple of minutes to download

When Arun District Council announced its Core Strategy Issues and Options public consultation it organised a series of public exhibitions – 5 days each in Littlehampton, Bognor and Arundel. The Five Villages area was excluded even though it has a combined population far higher than Arundel.

Despite protests from public and District Councillors Arun refused to hold an exhibition in the Five Villages. They didn’t hold an exhibition in Angmering either!

The people who would be most affected were excluded from a very early point.

It would appear they do not acknowledge the 5 villages, or those people who cannot get to Bognor, but would be able to get to their local village hall/community centre. They are obviously afraid of us. Better look to their laurels when next elections come round.

………. or a deliberate strategic move by Arun to reduce public participation in the Local Plan?

When will Arun recognise the fact the Westergate is all part of Aldingbourne Parish. Why carry out public consultation in July/August, when a high proportion of the VOTING public are away on holiday, and many parish councils do not meet during August due to this. Not a great move by Arun.
