Reasons to object to Arun’s Local Plan

The DRAFT Local Plan was published on 6th June 2012.

It identifies two areas for new strategic housing growth. In each case the council has published two options:

1. The villages of Eastergate/Westergate/Barnham.

Option 1 is for 150 houses plus combined parish allocations of 65 houses, making a total of 215 houses.

Option 2 is for1,685 houses plus combined parish allocations of 65 houses, making a total of 1,750 houses.

2. Areas in and around Angmering.

Option 1 is for 92 houses plus a parish allocation of 73 houses, making a total of 165 houses.

Option 2 is for 1,032 houses plus a parish allocation of 73 houses, making a total of 1,105 houses.

It says of Bognor Regis and Littlehampton that “Both towns have significant outstanding deliverable planning consents and will not be a focus for additional strategic housing growth during the life of this Local Plan.”

The purpose of this blog is to inform the public of events so far and to create a forum for members of the public to share their reasons for objecting to Arun District Council’s Local Plan.

Residents in Angmering and Eastergate/Westergate/Barnham have much in common and would benefit by sharing information with each other and particularly by supporting each other’s campaigns.

This blog will bring together views from different perspectives and from different parts of the district.

It will also explore whether Arun’s Local Plan is just and fair to all.

The proposed dates for the public consultation are 19th July to 10th September, Interesting to see Arun have chosen the holiday season!

For those wanting to see the detailed proposals maps they can be found here (look at the agenda for the Local Plan Sub Committee of 14th June 2012).
