NPPC requires use of brownfield land

……. and here’s a first thought.

The new National Planning Policy Framework (NPPF) requires local planning authorities to “encourage the effective use of land by reusing land that has been previously developed (brownfield land), provided that it is not of high environmental value”

The two areas for new strategic housing growth at Eastergate/Westergate/Barnham and Angmering are on greenfield land.

By contrast, the disused airfield at Ford is the largest available brownfield site in West Sussex.

Brownfield sites should be used ahead of greenfield sites.

Brownfield sites should be used first. If anyone has been following the news recently regarding the use of Greenfield sites, it is being promoted that greenfield sites should be used for supplying food and trying to encourage communties to set up community plots with the view of selling the produce locally at reasonable prices – GROW AND FEED OURSELVES, With the ever increase in the cost of food, many local shops closing post offices too, many small villages/communities need to be able to sustain themselves now and for the future. Our villages have used farmland surrounding them, these would be ideal for a great 5 villages community growing area. Say NO to any more housing being built on these, and YES to our communities working together on this.
